The fourth edition of NODES – ART+TECH ENCOUNTERS will take place on October 22 at 10 am (PT). In the center of the discussion will be Nokia Bell Labs’ Experiments in Art and Technology (E.A.T.) program and its long, successful history of fusing technology and the arts. The discussion will focus on the potentials of interdisciplinary collaborations and the benefits of incorporating art-thinking in the development of new technologies. We will talk about the genesis of E.A.T., dive into the 1967 collaboration of Bell Labs engineers and artists for the famous 9 EVENINGS: THEATRE AND ENGINEERING and explore the current and re-energized E.A.T. program.
NODES – ART+TECH ENCOUNTERS is a series of talks aiming to bring artists, technologists and researchers from the US and Europe together to engage in a dialogue about the potentials and the necessity of interdisciplinary collaborations between the two worlds of art and technology. By exploring that intersections further, we can learn about its rich and complex history of mutual influence, and gain insight into the nature of these intersections. Art, science and technology are highly intertwined and it is misleading to divide them. Therefore, THE GRID is seeking to (re)establish a productive dialogue on this relationship and to highlight the potentials of utilizing artistic thinking in tech companies.
