What Do Americans Think about Taxes?
What do Americans think about taxes? Their views are as widely misunderstood as the tax code itself. Most Americans feel the amount of tax they pay is fair, but many believe others pay less than their fair share. Like so much else in the US today, perceptions vary strongly by partisanship. Though Americans have surprisingly positive feelings about the US tax system, they also are deeply confused about how it works. How are the public’s views about taxes changing, and how will these perceptions affect the ability of the US to pay and plan for its future? A panel of experts will address these and other questions.
