Fall Series - Variations On A Theme
WHEN: Sunday, October 25 (1:00pm)

WHERE: The performance will be virtual through Zoom to our audience from NSB Studios, Reading MA

Northeast School of Ballet’s 2020 Fall Series is a public performance showcasing the pre-professional students of The Conservatory at NSB. The advanced dancers, ages 12-20, will demonstrate their versatility and passion presenting classical and contemporary repertoire, including variations from the classical ballet, Paquita Grand Pas Classique, coached by Jean-Pierre Bonnefoux, and additional works by Joseph Jefferies, and Jeremy Howes.

Paquita is the creation of French composer Édouard Deldevez and Paris Opéra Ballet Master Joseph Mazilier. It was first presented at the Salle Le Peletier by the Paris Opera Ballet in April 1846 and was retained in the repertory of the Opéra until 1851. In 1847, Paquita was staged for the first time in Russia for the Imperial Ballet of St. Petersburg by Marius Petipa and Pierre-Frédéric Malavergne, being the first work ever staged by Petipa in Russia. Petipa's 1881 additions for Paquita survived long after the full-length ballet left the stage. Today these pieces, particularly, Paquita Grand Pas Classique, are major cornerstones of the traditional classical ballet repertory and have been staged by ballet companies throughout the world.

We welcome you to share an evening of dance and support the next generation of artists at NYB’s 2020 Fall Series!
