Programming Essentials: Data Types & Variables in Ruby

In this workshop, we explore:

- What Ruby is and how it is used
- Basic data types such as strings, symbols, integers, floats, nil and booleans
- Operators, including mathematical operators, string operators (e.g. +) and the equality operator (==)
- How we can convert between different data types (i.e. type conversions)
- Basic data structures arrays and hashes
- How variables are created and reassigned
- What it means for Ruby to ""output"" or ""return"" values, and how they are different
