"Impacts of offshore drilling on biodiversity / Les impacts de l'exploitation pétrolière sur la biodiversité marine"

The oil projects of the Norwegian company Equinor, such as Bay du Nord off the coast of Newfoundland and Labrador, threaten marine ecosystems.

The most recent estimates indicate that Bay du Nord could produce between 300 million and one billion barrels of oil over its lifetime. Imagine, if an accident or a leak were to occur at sea, the repercussions on marine life would be catastrophic.

As part of COP15, Sierra Club, Équiterre and the Council of Canadians invite you to attend this conference to hear various speakers from international NGOs discuss the risks to marine ecosystems from Equinor's oil projects and how , by various means, we can prevent these from seeing the light of day.

Les projets pétroliers de la compagnie norvégienne Equinor, tel que Bay du Nord au large de Terre-Neuve-et-Labrador, menacent les écosystèmes marins.

Les estimations les plus récentes indiquent que Bay du Nord pourrait produire entre 300 millions et un milliard de barils de pétrole au cours de sa durée de vie. Imaginez si un accident ou une fuite devaient survenir en mer, les répercussions sur la vie marine seraient catastrophiques.

Dans le cadre de la COP15, Sierra Club, Équiterre et le Conseil des Canadiens vous invitent à assister à cette conférence pour entendre différents intervenant(e)s d’ONG internationales discuter des risques pour les écosystèmes marins des projets pétroliers d’Équinor et comment, par divers moyens, nous pouvons empêcher ceux-ci de voir le jour.
