Copper has become a metal of choice on many projects due to its inherent longevity, adaptability, and beautiful natural weathering characteristics. The use of brass and bronze has also increased in recent building designs. Larry Peters of the Copper Development Association will provide an overview of the benefits and challenges of utilizing copper and various alloys, current applications and issues related to these architectural metals including wall cladding and quality control testing protocols, as well as soldering theory and procedures. Mr. Peters has extensive experience with these applications and he will highlight several projects and case studies that provide real life examples of these time proven systems. The program will include a special discussion covering potential benefits of copper and copper alloy touch surfaces on harmful pathogens, including very recent research on COVID 19.
