ILA Webinar: What Your Library Needs to Know About Immigration Enforcement
Date & Time

Selected Sessions:

Feb 6, 2025 01:00 PM

Description
Recent ICE raids in the Chicagoland area have sparked concern across the state, particularly as schools and churches have been targeted. It’s vital for other community spaces, including libraries, to understand their rights, what actions are lawful, and how to respond appropriately. The ILA Diversity Committee and Human Resources and Administration Forum invite you to join the webinar, "What Your Library Needs to Know About Immigration Enforcement," on Thursday, February 6, 2025, from 1:00–2:00 p.m. Rebecca K. Glenberg, Chief Litigation Counsel for the First Amendment at the ACLU of Illinois, will discuss why libraries need a plan of action in case of an ICE visit, what legal responsibilities libraries must follow, and how they can support their patrons and staff effectively. There will be time for questions, so come prepared! Registration is required to attend this webinar, and you must use your work email to register. If you don’t have a work email, please contact Tamara Jenkins at tjenkins@ila.org for assistance with your registration. A recording of the webinar will be made available in the ILA Noon Network Archive for ILA personal members. Non-members who wish to access the recording must submit a request through their library leadership (director, assistant director, manager, or supervisor) to Tamara Jenkins at tjenkins@ila.org. Questions? Please contact Tamara Jenkins at tjenkins@ila.org.
