The International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction is celebrated every year on October 13, 2021, to see how people and communities around the world are reducing their exposure to disasters and raising awareness about the importance of reining in the risks that they face. The theme of this year is quite significant as it focuses on “International Cooperation for developing countries to reduce their disaster risk and disaster losses”.
The main aim of the theme is to believe in togetherness and collective actions at the international level and to highlight best practices and examples of international cooperation that have a positive impact on the lives of people who live in disaster-prone parts of the world i.e. reducing the numbers of people affected by man-made and natural hazards.
It is high time to reaffirm the commitment at all levels and to stress more on enhancing the international cooperation to developing countries through adequate and sustainable support to complement their national action plans related to disaster risk reduction and to achieve the targets by 2030.
By focusing on the critical theme of current year, PHF is planning to schedule a webinar on October 13, 2021. The webinar gathers imminent speakers from prestigious organizations who talk about the significant theme of this year and share valuable international and regional experiences.
