Road traffic injury is one of the leading causes of death among children globally, including children ages 19 and younger. However, these child injuries resulting to deaths are highly preventable with the combined efforts of the different sectors such as: health, education and child protection.
The UP – National Center for Transportation Studies, being road safety as one of its advocacies, is doing a valuable part in promoting safety on the streets. Forums involving different concerned agencies, LGUs and NGOs are regularly conducted by the Center to discuss and formulate solutions in preventing and reducing fatal and serious injuries for all road users.
In support of the Philippine government’s effort in reducing road crashes and in implementing the Child Road Traffic Injury Prevention (CRTIP) Program, UP-NCTS in cooperation with UNICEF, will be conducting this webinar with the following objectives:
1. To present key facts on children’s vulnerabilities to road traffic injuries;
2. To describe sample tools in developing child road traffic injury prevention program;
3. To show child road traffic injury prevention programs and projects that are evidence-based; and
4. To encourage/captivate the mind of individuals to create their own initiatives that can impact on the safety of children on the road.
