To be offered by Presbyterian World Mission, the Area Office for Middle East and Europe.
Neo-populism has become a global issue with the rise of right-wing and religious extremism and the election of ultra-nationalist leaders in many countries. With speakers from Italy, Poland and Ukraine, we will explore the issue with the European context, though there are implications well beyond the borders of Europe. What is the role of the Church in these challenging times?
During the webinar, our speakers will explore the issues of neo-populism and nativism in relation to rising anti-semitism and islamaphobia, interconfessional conflict and violence against migrants, women, and the LGBTQA community. The webinar has been planned since before our tumultuous January, but given what we have witnessed, it is important to draw the parallels that exist in the United States. Most importantly, the webinar will explore the role of the church in the midst of troubled times.
Speakers: Debora Spini (Waldensian, New York) Sergii Bortnyk (Professor, Ukraine), Rev. Michal Jablonski (Pastor, Poland).
