Voice training and therapy using tubes.
Phonation through a tube with the distal end either in air or submerged in water has been used for a longer time in voice exercise and therapy tradition to improve vocal function and voice quality. The method has been applied to many types of voice disorders. The use of different kinds of tubes and straws in vocal exercising has become increasingly popular during the last two decades. The topic has also gained a growing international research interest. This lecture summarizes results of investigations on the effects of tube training methods and on principles behind the effects.
