Live Expert Panel: Illicit Egyptian Antiquities During COVID-19
Cases of illicit trafficking in cultural heritage are interwoven among international headlines recently dominated by Covid-19. Trafficking is often an opportunistic endeavor, and the pandemic provides a unique opportunity for this crime to occur but also for researchers to study it.

Our expert panel discusses the immediate effects of Covid-19 on illicit Egyptian antiquities in Egypt and abroad. It includes Dr. Monica Hanna (Dean of AASTMT College of Archaeology and Cultural Heritage), Katie Paul (ATHAR Project) and Wesam Mohamed (AARHUS University), each of whom will discuss their own work and insights into this topic.

The discussion will be hosted by the Egypt Exploration Society and moderated by Dr. Sydney Taylor (University of Oxford), Summer Austin (University of Glasgow) and Siobhan Shinn (University of Oxford). It will run for an hour with an opportunity for debate and questions at the end.
