On April 19 the Government of Canada will table its first budget in two years. What will it mean for Canada’s hard-hit cities, now in their second year doing battle against the COVID-19 pandemic? Home to 42% of our population, Canada’s 20 largest cities have been home to more than 62% of COVID cases and 64% of deaths. The toll was worst in racialized communities, among people living in poverty and others who already faced significant barriers in their lives. Will the Budget be the answer for cities planning their recovery?
