Pentecost Martyrdom: Is There Hope for Nigerian Christians?

Last Sunday was arguably the greatest Christian feast—Pentecost, when the Holy Spirit descended on the Apostles in the Upper Room. At St. Francis Xavier Church in Owo, Nigeria, going to Pentecost Mass was martyrdom day for some 50 Catholics. Attacks by Islamic militants are increasingly commonplace in Nigeria. And yet many in media and diplomacy downplay the threat against Christians, sometimes explaining it away by climate change.
