Despite some national and international efforts in the past ten years, organ donation and transplantation in the majority of Balkan countries is still lagging behind. This session is meant to be an opportunity to discuss present hurdles and perspectives for setting up a new program, or for further developing the existing program in selected Balkans countries. Educational and organizational aspects of both approaches will also be grasped, as well as possible ways to handle the requests for healthcare in other countries put forward by patients, who are resident in the area.
