The lid on every organization’s success is undoubtedly their culture. Although culture can be viewed as an abstract concept, quite the opposite is true, culture is very real and palpable. A strong culture creates the conditions for employees to take ownership and accept accountability in an organization. A healthy culture imbues everyone in the organization with a sense of leadership. An unhealthy culture reduces productivity, profitability, and an organization’s ability to make an impact on the world. Developing a healthy culture is an intentional process that involves specific tools (such as mission, vision, and core values) and behaviors taken first by leadership and then by all. This lecture will explore, in actionable detail, these tools and behaviors to maximize organizational health and performance.
1) Understand the foundational role mission, vision, and core values play in establishing a strong and impactful culture.
2) Compare and contrast the leadership versus management in an effort to develop a clear understanding of how/when to use leadership and management tools.
3) Provide framework for developing and operationalizing mission, vision, and values into the fabric of an organization.
