Illicit Drug Supply: Fentanyl and Xylazine
Please join us on Wednesday, February 22nd from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. ET for a UVM CORA Community Rounds Workshop series session, “Illicit Drug Supply: Fentanyl and Xylazine.” Our speaker is Richard Rawson, PhD, Research Professor at the Vermont Center for Behavior and Health at UVM and a Professor Emeritus at the UCLA Department of Psychiatry. This presentation will explore current information about fentanyl and xylazine including: drug supply information, pharmacology, clinical effects, medical impacts, harm reduction and treatment information. Considerations for rural populations will be discussed.

Learning objectives:
1. Describe the current status of adulterants fentanyl and xylazine in the drug supply
2. Discuss specific effects of these agents
3. Outline interventions such as harm reduction and drug checking
4. Discuss how adulterants affect members of rural populations

The Community Rounds Workshop Series is provided live monthly by the University of Vermont Center on Rural Addiction (UVM CORA). The goal is to provide opportunities for health professionals to learn, ask questions, and discuss topics related to science-based best practices for substance use disorder. Participants can expect 45 minutes of presentation followed by 15 minutes for questions and conversation. A recording of the session and slides will be shared following.
