Earth Day Webinar: Climate Change, Health, and the Built Environment in Alexandria
Earth Day Event: Climate Change, Health, and the Built Environment in Alexandria
A stable climate is fundamental to human health. In December, as the COVID-19 pandemic was claiming the lives of thousands of Americans each day, the American Public Health Association and health policy leaders around the world issued a warning:
"Importantly, the toll of the pandemic should be seen as a forewarning of the future; there will be far-reaching and accelerated health consequences of climate change if the U.S. fails to appropriately respond...."

Join Alexandrians for the Environmental Action Plan and Build Our Future for an hour-long webinar on why Earth Day is also Health Day.

Learn how climate change is impacting the health of our community, and how the health care sector is taking action in response.

Speaking at the event will be:

• Jerry Paulson, MD. Dr. Paulson is Professor Emeritus of Pediatrics at the George Washington University School of Medicine & Health Sciences, and Professor Emeritus of Environmental & Occupational Health at the GW University-Milken University School of Public Health, and is a consultant to the Medical Society Consortium on Climate and Health.

• Tim Wilson is the Manager of Engineering and Energy, for Gundersen Health Systems. Gundersen Health Systems, headquartered in Wisconsin, has gained wide recognition for its work to reduce its energy use and emissions of greenhouse gases and other air pollutants, saving millions of dollars in the process.
