How do we build a more than human tech, how do we use the tools of tech to imagine a new world? The scholar Ruth Wilson Gilmore once wrote, that we need to look beyond tools as objects, and that we need to be asking, "who controls the conditions and the ends to which any tools are wielded?" For this edition of NODES, we will take a deep dive into "humanizing" tech. At the same time we will account for the fact that tech has been used to define notions of human, as well as a legacy of imperialism and colonialism that has historically designated much of the world's population as not human. What does a more human and more than human tech feel like, sound like, look like?

Join artist and educator Diana J Nucera, aka Mother Cyborg, researcher and educator Dr. Kalindi Vora, researcher Dr. Valmont Layne, Cosima Terrasse and Moritz Riesewieck (both members of Group Laokoon) for a discussion about A MORE THAN HUMAN TECH. The talk will be moderated by Xiaowei Wang, Creative Director at Logic Magazine.

The event is part of NODES. ART + TECH ENCOUNTERS, a series of talks that brings together artists, technologists and researchers from the U.S. and Europe. The event is part of THE GRID and organized by the Goethe-Institut San Francisco.
