“Hair Full of Secrets: How hair was worn and the face was painted in the 18th century” by Early American Music and Arts
Co-hosted by the Historical Society of Plainfield / Drake House Museum and Plainfield Public Library
In the character of loyalist Rebecca Franks, Eliza Lichack does a living history demonstration on historical hair and cosmetics. Eliza will provide a demonstration of the 18th century lady’s toilette starting from styling the hair to dressing in the highest styles. The demo starts out with how the hair is done using period correct products followed by applying cosmetics created from 18th century recipes. The program is designed to bridge the gap between the past and the present by finding common ground as well as bust the myths surrounding historical fashion.

This history program is supported, in part, by a 2021 History, Education, Arts Reaching Thousands (HEART) Grant from the Union County Board of Commissioners.
