The Volusia Remembers Coalition, in collaboration with the Equal Justice Initiative, will hold a soil collection ceremony on Saturday, Feb. 27, at 12 p.m. to honor lynching victim Lee Snell. Taking place in Volusia County in 1939, this racial terror lynching was one of thousands meant to instill fear in Black communities and suppress their civil rights.
Attendance at the event is virtual only. While the soil collection will take place in person the venue does not allow for in-person attendance, and so it will be broadcast to all who wish to attend. Once you register, you will receive the login link.
