Guest speaker Julie Albert, manager of the Marine Resources Council's North Atlantic Right Whale Program, will discuss the current status of this endangered species on Thursday, Jan. 21, at 7 p.m. Eastern.
Albert coordinates more than 800 volunteers along Florida's east coast and provides training to help volunteers know which authorities to call to report Right Whale sightings. This communication network is key to protect the whales from shipping boat strikes and fishing gear entanglement.
The presentation is free, but participants must have a personal Zoom account.
This is the first online presentation of the Marine Discovery Center's 2021 Monthly Lecture Series.
