Smith School of Business) Dr. Clifford Rossi is an Executive-in-Residence and Professor of the Practice at the Robert H. Smith School of Business, University of Maryland. Prior to entering academia, Rossi had nearly 25 years’ experience in banking and government, having held senior executive roles in risk management at several of the largest financial services companies. His most recent position was Managing Director and Chief Risk Officer for Citigroup’s Consumer Lending Group where he was responsible for overseeing the risk of a $300+B global portfolio of mortgage, home equity, student loans and auto loans with 700 employees under his direction. While there he was intimately involved in Citi’s TARP and stress test activities. He also served as Chief Credit Officer at Washington Mutual (WaMu) and as Managing Director and Chief Risk Officer at Countrywide Bank. Melissa Malpass (Attorney @Alston & Bird) Melissa Malpass advises financial institutions and their service providers on compliance with federal and state consumer financial laws. She regularly counsels mortgage lenders on loan origination, including disclosures, loan originator compensation, ability-to-repay standards, and other requirements imposed by the Truth in Lending Act (TILA), Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA), and Title XIV of the Dodd–Frank Act. Melissa also advises mortgage servicers on compliance with federal and state regulations governing loss mitigation and foreclosure. Melissa has extensive experience counseling financial institutions on fair lending matters, specifically with developing internal policies and procedures for compliance monitoring and training in the areas of underwriting, valuations, pricing, and marketing, and regularly represents clients in government investigations under the Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA) and the Fair Housing Act. She has advised financial institutions. Ken Dicks (Director Appraisal Compliance and Initiatives @Reggora) Ken is the current Director of Appraisal Compliance and Initiatives for Regorra, a leading appraisal platform. Ken has been a practicing Real Estate Appraiser since 1984 with a broad range of experience including independent fee appraiser, financial institution appraiser and reviewer, commercial and industrial Tax Assessor and manager of appraisal review and collateral risk functions for a large regional, national chartered bank.
