Waterlife Recovery East is an ambitious partnership project aiming to eradicate American Mink from East Anglia. This will demonstrate the feasibility of a GB-wide eradication for the near future. We are working extensively across the whole of Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk, with much additional activity in the rest of East Anglia and a bit beyond. Using a combination of smart traps on tried and tested mink rafts, backed up by a network of volunteer support, we have shown that it is possible to control mink at a large geographical scale with minimal cost and effort. We have seen the rapid return of native wildlife, particularly Water Voles, at our earlier pioneer sites. Any riparian landowners are encouraged to contact us to host a mink raft, while any volunteers who could be in the network of first responders would be equally welcome to join our project. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org 07944 347488 if you would like to join the network.
