He is also Distinguished Professor at Aalborg University, Denmark; and Adjunct Professor at Seoul National University and Yonsei University, Seoul, Korea. Half of his time is spent as a clinical cardiologist, including outpatient clinics (leading large atrial fibrillation and hypertension specialist services) and acute cardiology. Professor Lip has had a major interest into the epidemiology of atrial fibrillation (AF), as well as the pathophysiology of thromboembolism in this arrhythmia. Furthermore, he has been researching stroke and bleeding risk factors, and improvements in clinical risk stratification. Eleni Korompoki (Consultant at Department of Clinical Therapeutics @National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece) After her graduation from the Medical School of the University of Athens in 2002, Eleni Korompoki completed her PhD thesis on the heart-brain connection in patients with arterial hypertension. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine in 2011 and continued as a post-doctoral clinical research fellow in Stroke Medicine at the University of Athens (2011-2014, next to Dr. K. Vemmos). Subsequently, she has been working since 2014 as a clinical research fellow with Professor R. Veltkamp at Imperial College, London. Her current clinical appointment as a consultant is at the Department of Clinical Therapeutics at the University of Athens, Greece. Her research is focused on the heart-brain connection, intracerebral haemorrhage and arterial hypertension.She has been actively engaged in the Hellenic and European Stroke Organization. She currently serves as a member of the ESO Guideline Board and participates in the development of the ESO Guidelines on secondary stroke prevention. Allison Halliday (Emeritus Professor of Vascular Surgery @University of Oxford, Oxford (United Kingdom of Great Britain & Northern Ireland)) Dr. Alison Halliday is Professor of Vascular Surgery at the University of Oxford, Hon Consultant Vascular Surgeon, Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust and Senior Research Fellow, Green Templeton College, Oxford. Dr. Halliday is immediate Past-President of the European Society for Vascular Surgery and principal investigator in the large ACST multi-national randomised Carotid Trials - ACST-1, one of the world's largest clinical surgery trials, involving thousands of patients from 30 countries.
