LBBC Webinar with Tim Eaton: The Libyan Economy: the Way Ahead
Tim Eaton is Senior Research Fellow with the Middle East & North Africa Programme at Chatham House.

He last spoke to us in August 2020 regarding a paper he co-authored on 'The Development of Libyan Armed Groups since 2014' which can be found at https://www.chathamhouse.org/publication/development-libyan-armed-groups-2014-community-dynamics-and-economic-interests.

Tim will discuss the process of the GNU's formation and the outlook for its programme of reforms and economic policies, the implications for the sovereign institutions and some of the challenges associated with reunification.

LBBC members will have the opportunity to ask questions after the briefing.

Tim Eaton is a senior research fellow with Chatham House’s MENA Programme. His research focuses on the political economy of the Libyan conflict. In 2018, he authored a report on the development of Libya’s war economy which illustrates how economic activities have become increasingly connected to violence.
