Join us on July 23 (9-10 a.m.) for Naturally Chicago Office Hours. Our topic is How to Succeed at Capital Raising, with takeaways from our guest speaker: Dan Caballero, co-founder and CEO of Sofrito Foods/Fillo's Americas Made. Dan knows this turf well, having closed a financing round in March with a combined $2 million in investments from Spiral Sun Ventures, Sustainable Local Food Investment Group and Clover Vitality.
Since just 2016, the company has marketed bean dishes with a variety of Latin American flavors, packed in microwaveable pouches that heat the food in just 60 seconds. You can now find Fillo's products on shelf more than 3,500 stores nationwide, including all Whole Foods Market, Sprouts and The Fresh Market locations (plus many Publix stores). Their fast-selling products are vegan friendly, the company is minority-owned (Dan's family is Cuban and Panamanian), and it sources its beans locally (Michigan) from a women- and minority owned company.
Dan also is a graduate of the Good Food Accelerator program.
