Microplastics in Freshwater Streams with Dr. Daniel Welsh
Plastic pollution is an important environmental problem in rivers and streams. Tiny fragments called microplastics are a newer, and growing, concern. Dr. Daniel Welsh will share his findings on microplastics in the streams of the Nashua River watershed and also in a common fish species found in the watershed. He will discuss what microplastics are, why they are a problem, and also talk about his research measuring microplastics in our local watershed. Dr. Welsh is an Associate Professor of Biology in the Biology and Chemistry Department at Fitchburg State University.
