"Co-creating Spaces for Peace and Reconciliation on the Korean Peninsula. What steps are Women taking toward Sustainable Peace?"
June 04, 2021 05:00 PM Seoul
June 04, 2021 10:00 AM CET

Leaders and delegates from Europe, Eurasia and Middle East will meet with Korean counterparts to discuss the important steps women have been taking towards a shared vision and space for peace in the region, and the way forward. A proposal for partnership for a special project, a meeting place for women of North and South near the DMZ, will be included in the program. Peace on the Korean peninsula has been a focus of WFWPI since its inauguration in 1992.
With chapters in 119 nations, the organization is united globally by its vision, while addressing the unique issues and barriers in each region. The successes of good practice models locally have led to advocacy and partnership at decision-making institutions and the United Nations.

These annual women leadership conferences have been held in prominent UN and government venues throughout Europe since 2001 with the goal of providing women leaders and young emerging leaders the opportunity to share knowledge, tools and resources to strengthen peacebuilding. This year’s virtual format has encouraged the participation of other regions.

The program will be held in two sessions with finalised program forthcoming:
- Session I: What Steps are Women taking toward Sustainable Peace on the Korean Peninsula
- Session II: Projects, Partnership and Implementation: Co-creating Spaces for Peace
