Why Our #PainCounts: Chronic Pain Awareness, Treatment & More
Throughout this September, the U.S. Pain Foundation has been celebrating Pain Awareness Month by showing all the ways #PainCounts. From daily facts posted on social media, to articles, email newsletters and more, our goal has been to increase awareness of chronic pain among the public and push toward meaningful change.

Please join us on Wednesday, September 29th at 7 pm ET to hear from experts in the field and people with chronic pain as we discuss these critical issues surrounding pain management and care and answer YOUR questions. Moderated by U.S. Pain's CEO Nicole Hemmenway, this event will highlight what needs to change and how we can better support people with chronic pain.

Our message is simple—#PainCounts.

Panelists include:

Amy Goldstein, MSW, has been in the healthcare field for 25 years, advocating for the needs of people and families living with chronic conditions that include pain, cancer, multiple sclerosis, kidney failure, substance use disorder and more. Through her company, Healthcare Collaboratives, LLC, she developed and currently directs the grant-funded initiative Alliance to Advance Comprehensive Integrative Pain Management.

Carmen Renee Green, MD, is the dean of the CUNY School of Medicine (CSOM) at The City College of New York. Among her many accomplishments, Dr. Green helped draft the National Pain Care Policy Act, incorporated in the Affordable Care Act. An innovator, she often uses narrative medicine and photo voice techniques to promote empathy and healing.

Gwenn Herman, LCSW, DCSW, has dedicated her career to offering much-needed hope to people with pain. Gwenn intimately understands their challenges, having lived with chronic pain for more than two decades as the result of a car accident. Frustrated by the lack of resources for people with pain, in 1999, she founded Pain Connection, a national network of chronic pain support groups, support group leader trainings, and more.
