The youngest generation is now the largest generation on earth, but the average age of coffee farmers continues to increase. There is an alarming gap growing between ageing coffee farmers and the up-and-coming generation. These youth are not only potential coffee farmers, they are also future rural community leaders. We want to explore with you the question, how can we professionalize coffee, across the industry, so it is worthy of the talent and aspirations of youth in coffee producing communities?
We’ll examine the situation of young adults in the communities where we work in Central America and Tanzania. We’ll share how we’ve approached this question and lessons learned along the way as well as the success of young adults already crafting a new future.
