Preventing ACES in Ohio: Ensuring a strong start for children and strengthening economic supports for families
The health and well-being of Ohioans can be improved by ensuring that children have a strong start in life and that families are financially stable. Roughly 20% of Ohio children are exposed to one or more adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), which have both immediate and long-term effects on health.

Implementing evidence-informed programs and policies can both prevent and mitigate the effects of childhood adversity and trauma. This forum will highlight four key strategies that Ohio policymakers and other stakeholders can support to ensure the economic well-being of families, build resiliency in young children and prevent trauma before it occurs.
