Prof Richard Betts, MBE , Project Director of UK CCRA3 to give a webinar on the process of developing the third Climate Change Risk Assessment.
Under the Climate Change Act (2008), the UK carries out a national Climate Change Risk Assessment (CCRA) every 5 years. The 3rd CCRA is currently underway, and a major part of this is the writing of the technical chapters for the Evidence Report. This is being done by a large team of leading experts using literature assessment and new research to assess the magnitude of a number of specific risks that climate change brings to the UK, and also any specific opportunities. The urgency of adaptation action for individual risks is also being assessed. This webinar will explain the process for assessing the risks, and how the technical chapters fit in with the wider CCRA3 process including the synthesis by the Committee on Climate Change which will then inform the report presented to Parliament by the government.

Professor Richard Betts MBE is Met Office Fellow, Head of Climate Impacts Research and Chair in Climate Impacts, University of Exeter.

Kathryn Brown is Head of Adaptation on the Committee on Climate Change

This webinar will be chaired by Kate Lonsdale (co-Champion, UKCR)
