An event of the European Parliament
Social Economy's vision for a Green & Fair Transition
Social economy actors are at the forefront in providing innovative solutions to environmental, social and economic challenges. The 1,500 renewable energy cooperatives operating in the EU, that unite one million citizens, are leading the energy transition; social enterprises active in reuse, repair and recycling are a pioneer in job creation linked to the circular economy, as acknowledged in the Circular Economy Action Plan. There are many other examples on the potential of the social economy in areas such as sustainable and energy-efficient housing, smart mobility solutions, industry, sustainable agriculture and short-circuits; or environmental education and the mobilisation of citizens to save our planet. The social economy does all this in an inclusive and participative manner and leaving no one behind.
