Virtual Levy Lecture Series: Miep Gies, the Woman Who Found and Saved Anne Frank's Diary
Anne Frank survived the claustrophobia of quarantine by pouring her experience onto the welcoming pages of a plaid striped journal. After two years of hiding, the Frank family was betrayed and sent to the Nazi death camps. Only Anne’s father Otto survived to come home to Amsterdam. Upon his return, he reunited with the helpers who had protected him. Loyal and brave, Miep Gies, handed him Anne’s diary which she had retrieved and guarded.
