"Bonnie Prince Charlie?" 300th anniversary lecture

Three hundred years after the birth of Charles Edward Stuart, we take a look at who the "bonnie prince" really was, what he hoped to achieve in 1745, and how he has been presented and portrayed ever since.

The talk will be presented by Dr Arran Johnston, executive trustee of the Battle of Prestonpans (1745) Heritage Trust.

He is the author of a number of book, including "On Gladsmuir Shall the Battle Be: the Battle of Prestonpans". Arran received his PhD from the University of the West of Scotland for a study of contemporary engagement with historical identities in the Scottish diaspora. He is currently leading a two year project for the Trust, centred on the 275th anniversary of the last Jacobite rising.
