Human Trafficking Education for the Dental Professional, Dr. Gloria Enzor
To provide the class participants with current and specific information for the proper detection, reporting, and investigation of human trafficking, as well as the identification of sex and labor trafficking. Participants will gain an understanding of the importance of the unique position of the oral health care team in recognizing human trafficking, and the responsibilities of the oral health care team as mandated reporters according to Florida law and the FDA and ADA Codes. Additionally, participants will study the various maxillofacial, oral, head, neck, and body injuries that are generally associated with the human physical abuse often associated with human trafficking. Participants will learn the various types of abuse that may present, to include physical, emotional, sexual, and financial. Participants will understand the behaviors that are common in trafficking victims and their traffickers and will learn how their examination can aid in a complete investigation. Participants will gain an understanding of the psychological, patient management, and treatment considerations of both the trafficked patient and the abuse survivor.
