Playing Robinhood: Will Congress Raise Estate and Gift Tax on the Rich in 2021?
Join top tax law attorney, Dennis M. Sandoval on Thursday, May 19 at 11 a.m. for an in-depth discussion on whether or not Congress will raise estate and gift tax on the wealthy in 2021.
He will cover the proposals put forth by the Biden administration and the new Congress to dramatically increase gift and estate taxes on “the rich” and to eliminate the step-up in basis on gains over $1 million.
For those that may not know, the step-up in basis is the process by which beneficiaries of a deceased person’s estate or trust receive the property at the date of death value for tax purposes. This means the property can currently be sold shortly after death with no capital gains tax to pay. This benefit would be eliminated under the American Family Plan proposals.
