Renaming Sacred Spaces - Indigenous Allies & Accomplices Training

Join us for an open training for allies and accomplices led by Indigenous leaders to learn how to work with Indigenous community members to advocate for renaming sacred spaces in what is called Colorado.
We will be discussing the efforts to rename Mt. Evans and Sq**w Mountain.
Panelists include:
-Crystal C'Bearing, Deputy Director of the Northern Arapaho Tribe's Tribal Historic Preservation Office
-Fred Mosqueda, Arapahoe Coordinator for the Language & Arts Program
-Renee Millard-Chacon, Xicana community educator and activist with Spirit of the Sun
-Rick Williams, a fierce advocate for Native education
-Aspen Howard, community organizer and activist

She is an indigenous womxn of Dine/Azteca decent, fighting for future generations and committed to relating climate justice to social justice. Her family is from the Denver community and she now works as a cultural educator and teacher. She has worked with the International Indigenous Youth Council, 350.org, Four Winds American Indian Council of Denver, Womxn From the Mountain, and Earth Day Live 2020, in hosting, organizing, and leading marches, workshops, and educational resources for social justice and environmental justice. She maintains her culture everyday as a Sahumadora/Malinzin in Azteca Danza for Grupo ColorAztlan in Denver and Tlahuitzcalli in Boulder. Her goal now, is to help in the circles she has the opportunity to engage in to move forward to heal through environmental awareness, transformative education, and supporting diverse leaders. Crystal C'Bearing (Deputy Director @Northern Arapaho Tribe, Tribal Historic Preservation Office) Fred Mosqueda (Arapaho Coordinator for the Language and Culture Program @Education Department for the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes) My name is Fred Mosqueda and I am the Arapaho Coordinator for the Language and Culture Program within the Education Department for the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes. The other selections I have presently are: Sand Creek Massacre Representative, NAGPRA Representative and all around keen guy (just kidding). I am a member of the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes and have been raised in the Arapaho Way of life. I was born in Canton, Oklahoma, went to the public school in Canton for 12 years and graduated. I have a Bachelor’s of Science degree from Southwestern Oklahoma State University, Weatherford, Oklahoma. I served 5 years and 9 months as a Commissioned Officer in the United States Marine Corps. In 1988, I came to work for the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes and have worked in several positions in the past 33 years.
