He began his professional journalism career at the age of 15, covering village government for the Mount Horeb Mail in Mount Horeb, Wisconsin. He worked as editor of the Fennimore Times and Associate Editor of Madison Magazine. He later served Lt. Governor Barbara Lawton as Communications Director and worked in strategic communications in nonprofit, arts and entertainment and local government sectors for several years. Paul Fanlund (Editor and Publisher @The Capital Times) Paul Fanlund was a reporter and editor at the Wisconsin State Journal and later vice president of operations for Madison Newspaper Inc. before joining the Capital Times in 2006. He covered local government, the statehouse and was chief political reporter for the State Journal before occupying a series of editing positions there. As vice president, he oversaw building-wide operations. Currently, he writes a weekly column, is responsible for all content, is a board member of The Capital Times Co. and the Evjue Foundation, its charitable arm. He has received numerous journalism and business awards. Patrick Farabaugh (Publisher @Our Lives Magazine) Since moving to Wisconsin from NYC in 2005, Patrick Farabaugh has been the creator and publisher of Our Lives magazine, Wisconsin’s source for LGBTQ news + people + community + culture since 2007. He also is the founder of the Madison Gay Hockey Association. Rebecca Ryan (Founder @NEXT Generation Consulting) Rebecca Ryan is a noted top 50 professional futurist, economist, best-selling author and entrepreneur. She is the founder of NEXT Generation Consulting through which she partners with government leaders across the country. Looking a generation ahead, she outlines strategies in urban planning, economic development and workforce development to ensure communities are well equipped for future trends and challenges. Rebecca is a graduate of Drake University with a certificate in Strategic Foresight from University of Houston; she is the Resident Futurist at the Alliance for Innovation and on the Executive Committee of the global Association of Professional Futurists.
