Art educator, Deon Mitchell, will take you on a journey of storytelling and art making, as she takes a closer look at the native plants of the Southwest. The images she creates are inspired by people in her life, childhood memories growing up on the Navajo Nation, and her love of storytelling. Deon currently teaches art at a Title 1 school in central Phoenix. Her students, K-8, inspire her with their vibrant imaginations and diverse cultural backgrounds. Deon is also the creator of K'aalogii Kisses (Butterfly Kisses), a virtual platform where she inspires others to live colorfully each day.
