During this session, Dr Stephen Connolly will give an insight into the everyday impact that the senses have upon an Autistic individual. He will discuss not only the basis 5 senses, but also additional senses that play a pivotal role in the life of an Autistic person. Stephen will also explore the role that the senses play when it comes to food, both eating and drinking, which can be problematic for many.
Stephen is an autistic academic at Sheffield Hallam University, being the course leader on the MA Autism Spectrum degree, and lecturer on numerous other degree pathways. He has a keen interest in all things autism, with particular focus on inclusion in Higher Education. He comes from a Physical Education and Developmental Psychology background.
