Rev. Marvin A. McMickle, PhD has been a long-time resident of Shaker Heights. He is past president of the Cleveland NAACP, Shaker Heights Board of Education, and the Greater Cleveland Urban League, and was a member of the Board of Trustees of Cleveland State University. He is also the author of over a dozen books and numerous articles.
Rev. McMickle received his Master of Divinity degree from Union Theological Seminary in New York City and Doctor of Ministry degree from Princeton Theological Seminary in Princeton, NJ; Princeton later named him a Distinguished Alumnus. He received his Doctor of Philosophy degree from Case Western Reserve University. From 1987 to 2011, he served as Senior Pastor of Antioch Baptist Church in Cleveland. He left Shaker Heights in 2011 when he was elected as President of Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School in Rochester, New York. Last year he retired and returned to Shaker Heights, and is currently serving again as pastor at Antioch Baptist Church.
