University of Leeds at COP26
In just a few weeks, Glasgow will play host to a historical event of global importance, as people from across the world gather to discuss and demand action on climate change. COP26, the United Nations climate negotiations, will involve around 200 presidents and prime ministers and thousands of delegates, in what is considered the most important international climate conference since the Paris Agreement was signed in 2015.

As an official observer of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, the University of Leeds is sending a delegation to attend COP26 in November. Members of the delegation will be involved in hosting events and exhibits, as well contributing to the accountability of the process, and using the opportunity to meet with a wide range key stakeholders.

This event offers the University of Leeds community an opportunity to meet members of their COP26 delegation. As an introduction, we will offer an overview of COP26 and outline its importance: both scientific and political. You will then hear from several members of the delegation about their planned activities and hopes for the negotiations. Finally, you will have an opportunity to ask questions and share any messages that you would like to be taken to COP26.
