Stretch & Rest opens space for deep relaxation by calming the sympathetic nervous system through breath and mindfulness. You will be guided through a series of intentional, seated stretches to prepare for the restorative portion of the class, which will consist of supported seated and reclining yoga postures. The entire class can be practiced while seated. Find a level, stable chair or seat. Prior to class, gather items that help foster comfort, such as pillows and blankets. A yoga bolster and blocks can be helpful, too.
The benefits of a restorative practice are broad and can include: release of myofascial tension, improvement in the quality of sleep, and a decrease in the body’s response to stress. Anyone can practice letting the body reset and restore. Be sure to add this class to help balance your busy life.

Kristen Rae (C-IAYT) is the founder of Yogi Oasis in Garner, NC, a certified Yoga Therapist, E-RYT 200 from Sumits Yoga (AZ) and E-RYT 300 from Yax Yoga Concepts (VA) with over 10 years and 10,000 classes taught. Kristen offers many formats of classes, workshops, and private instruction virtually and in-studio. She offers free/donation classes weekly and serves the Veteran and Cancer populations with free classes every Friday morning with the help of You Call This Yoga. When Kristen isn’t teaching yoga, she is hanging with her husband, french bulldog and parrots, probably making some kind of fancy tacos or enjoying the outdoors. In her past-normal, she enjoyed traveling and teaching abroad yearly in Jamaica, Australia, and Indonesia.
