Description
In this conversation, Laurene Contreras, Program Administrator for the Yakama Nation Environmental Restoration/Waste Management (ERWM) program, will discuss how the Yakama Nation protects the ancient and living cultural resources of the Hanford Site. Since time immemorial, the lands of the Confederated Tribes and Bands of the Yakama Nation extended in all directions along the Cascade Mountain Range to the Columbia River and beyond. The Yakama consider it land given in trust by the Creator and a heritage to be held and protected for unborn generations. The Nuclear Waste Scholar Series is funded through a Public Participation Grant from the WA State Department of Ecology.
