Trauma-Informed Standards, Practices and Strategies for Healthcare Organizations: Safety Talk in the Context of CLAS and Cultural Competency
This two-hour training will enhance Medi-Cal providers to deliver quality healthcare that adheres to trauma-informed principles and patient-centered best practices for developing policies that protect the patient and others. It will cover the standards, as delineated by the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration (SAMHSA) and the National Child Traumatic Stress Network (NCTSN), with a special focus on cultural competence and adapting to a post-coronavirus world.

Educational Goals:

Attendees will learn to practice compassionate, present-focused, culturally competent questioning about safety and its impact on health. The concept of “safety talk” will be explored to improve effective patient referrals to resources to increase current safety and re-duce actual risks in the patient’s life.
