Starting the conversation: African Perspectives on the Paralympic Movement

This panel aims to position Africa in relation to the global Paralympic Movement by drawing the lived experiences of administrators, coaches, team management and athletes in a conversation. The panelists will discuss their, experiences, role and involvement in the movement. The conversation will build on the following discussions topics:

Media representation of Para-athletes and the Para-sports events;
Classification processes and how they affect African countries;
Technological developments and the influence thereof on the games;
Experiences of athletes;
Where the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) is headed in the next few years;
The long-term prospects for Africa’s involvement in the Paralympic Movement.
