Alex Carrick obtained his M.A. in Economics at the University of Toronto (U of T) in 1971. Mr. Carrick left a doctorate program for an exciting opportunity with the Canadian Institute of Steel Construction (CISC), a trade association representing structural steel fabricators. He eventually became the CISC’s Secretary-Treasurer. In 1985, Mr. Carrick moved further into the private sector when he assumed the role of Chief Economist with CanaData, a subsidiary of ConstructConnect, the leading supplier of statistics and forecasting information for the Canadian construction industry. He was promoted to ConstructConnect’s North American Chief Economist six years ago. Mr. Carrick’s U.S. put-in-place capital spending projections form part of the consensus outlook piece showcased by the AIA twice each year.

Tony is the general manager of the Metal Builders Manufacturing Association (MBMA) and vice president of the association management firm, Thomas Associates. With nearly 30 years of building products industry experience, he manages the daily operations for the MBMA, a trade association dedicated to conducting research, to advancing building codes and standards, and to educating the construction community. Prior to MBMA, Bouquot worked with Associated Materials Inc., the parent company to several manufacturing and distribution companies in the exterior building products industry. He also worked at Patio Enclosures Inc., as vice president of manufacturing and Tubelite, Inc.as engineering manager. His broad-based expertise includes operations management, project management and product development, supply chain development, and product design and development. In addition to his technical background, he has led a trade association before and served on its board.
