In commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the Great Chicago Fire which began on October 8, 1871, we offer a program on fire resistance in building design.
With the advent of the 2019 Chicago Construction Codes, much of what was previously enforced as interpretation has now been fully adopted from the 2018 International Building Code. However, it is important to note the modifications made to the model code and how the changes will affect the design of exterior walls for fire resistance. This seminar will discuss the various referenced materials, assemblies, and fire tests to show the similarities and differences from model code (Chapter 14) requirements as they apply to new construction.
